Purpose

The purpose of the conservation is to preserve a distinctive and highly productive wetland area, to protect a particularly rich and varied birdlife, interesting and valuable geological deposits, and to protect all plant and animal life that is naturally linked to the area.

Regulations Summary

Restrictions

1. All vegetation on land and in water is protected from all forms of damage and destruction. New plants must not be introduced.
2. All wildlife, including their dens, nests and eggs, is protected against any damage, destruction and unnecessary disturbance. Hunting, catching, use of firearms and releasing dogs is prohibited.
3. No measures may be taken that may change the natural conditions, such as construction of roads, drainage and other types of dredging, extraction, filling, new sewage and other concentrated pollutants, waste disposal, fertilization and the use of chemical pesticides.
4. Motorized transit on land, including motorcrossing, use of model aircraft etc. is prohibited.
5. From April 15 to September 30, all transit on land is prohibited within the Prestvika - Urdneset area.
