Purpose

To protect this habitat area, which consists of a large shallow brackish estuary, a fjord surrounded by very large marshes, especially at Værnengene and Tipperne, forming a peninsula into the southern end of the fjord. Here the landscape is flat with numerous small lakes and meadows that are crisscrossed by channels and ditches. The habitat area contains a community bird protection area and national biological interest areas. There are priority habitat types and very significant beach areas in connection with Ringkøbing Fjord. The coastline of the Tipper Peninsula is one of the country's most important breeding sites for coastal birds.

Species of Concern: Mute Swan, Whooper Swan, Bewick's Swan
