Purpose

To preserve an exceptional and rich ecosystem on the central California coast which provides a key linkage between the land and sea. The slough harbors California's largest tract of tidal salt marsh outside San Francisco Bay, providing a critical habitat for more than 135 aquatic birds, 550 marine invertebrates, and 102 fish species. This site is also home to sea lions, harbor seals, and California sea otters.
