Regulations Summary

Restrictions

It is prohibited to:
1. take any animal or plant by any method on land or at sea, except to the extent permitted in any fishing zone;
2. destroy, damage or injure any animal or plant;
3. take or damage any artifact;
4. remove sand, rock, coral or coral rag or any calcareous substance;
5. anchor a vessel except in an anchoring zone;
6. cause anchor damage to artifacts or to coral or reef structure living or dead or to associated marine plant or animal life;
7. moor a vessel other than at a buoy;
8. dive using SCUBA or snorkel equipment, unless under the supervision of, a qualified diver;
9. use any vehicle, except as permitted in an access zone or parking zone;
10. use jet skis or hovercraft;
11. use water skis, except in a water ski zone;
12. dump any refuse, abandoned vehicle, toxic or other waste, bilge, oil or other petroleum product, pesticide or any other item harmful to animals or plants, or any unsightly item, or substance which does or is likely to destroy or reduce amenities of the area;
13. erect any structure, except with the written permission of the Minister.

Pedestrian access is prohibited in a Marine Protected Area except on routes designated by the Authority.
