Purpose
To preserve and protect Honolua-Mokuleia Bay's marine life and habitat, which supports green sea turtles, parrotfish, humuhumunukunukuapua'a, tangs, and wrasse. The bottom of Honolulu bay consists of small boulders and silt and there are dense coral growths on either side of the bay, in waters about 10 to 40 feet deep. Coral is more abundant and diverse along the northeastern shoreline. Small caves and archways are found near the point on Mokulē‘ia Bay's left side.

Regulations Summary
Restrictions
It is unlawful to:
1. Fish, take or injure any marine life (including eggs), or possessing any device that may be used for the taking of marine life, is prohibited.
2. Take, alter, deface, possess, remove, or destroy any sand, coral, rock or other geological feature or specimen, or possess in the water any equipment that may be used for taking or altering a geological feature or specimen.
3. Have or possess in the water, any spear, trap, net, crowbar, or other device that may be used for the taking or altering of marine life, geological feature, or specimen.
Allowed
1. To possess aboard any boat or watercraft any legal fishing gear and fish or other aquatic life taken outside of the MLCD.
2. With a permit, for scientific, propagation, or other permitted purposes, to bag and remove akule netted outside of the district, provided the net is moved only over the sandy bottom areas of the area.
All take of marine life must conform to regulations regarding species allowed, size limitations, catch limits, method of capture, and seasons. Temporary closures may apply.
