Purpose

To conserve and sustainably manage one of Turkey’s largest and most ecologically diverse wetlands—home to internationally significant bird and plant biodiversity, critical for Black Sea migratory routes, and supporting traditional livelihoods (fishing, water‑buffalo grazing, reed harvesting)—by maintaining its hydrological integrity, habitat mosaics, and socio‑economic vitality through coordinated planning and stakeholder stewardship

Restrictions

1. Collecting wild animals, their eggs, or their offspring is prohibited.
2. It is strictly prohibited to discharge untreated domestic or industrial wastewater under any circumstances.
3. Dumping solid waste, rubble, excavation material, or process waste sludge is prohibited. Except for activities aimed at sustaining, restoring, or improving the wetland ecosystem, dredging and the dumping of dredged sludge is prohibited.
