Regulations Summary
Restrictions
1. It is prohibited to pollute the internal waters and the territorial sea, or the atmosphere above them, by the disposal, dumping, or discharge from a ship or other floating or fixed installation, from flying apparatuses, or from land-based sources, any toxic substances or residues of toxic substances, radioactive substances, hydrocarbons, or other substances that are harmful or dangerous to human health or to marine life, or other residues or materials capable of causing damage to the Romanian coastline or of creating obstacles to the legitimate uses of the sea.
2. Industrial fishing or any other activity involving illegal exploitation of the natural resources of the internal waters or the territorial sea, including the seabed and the subsoil of that zone, is prohibited.
3. It is prohibited to trade products derived from fisheries and aquaculture whose weight and size is lower prescribed by regulation or whose fishing method does not comply with the rules of the Directorate of Fisheries.
4. Protection zones prohibit all fishing activity, hydro-technical works, or economic activities that endanger the balance of aquatic ecosystems protected, except for fisheries and scientific measures to prevent floods.
5. Damage or destruction to fishing zones and marine habitat is prohibited.
Allowed
Every ship enjoys the right of innocent passage.
All fishing vessels and boats require a fishing license before entering Romanian fishing zones. The fishing licenses will include allowable fish species names, fishing gear restrictions, size limitations, quotas, and open seasons.
