Purpose

To preserve the Bone River Natural Area, which contains the finest salt marshes remaining in Willapa Bay, and includes tideflats, sloughs, freshwater streams, freshwater wetlands, and conifer forests. The preserve provides critically important waterfowl habitat, supports the federally-threatened marbled murrelet and state sensitive bald eagle, and hosts runs of steelhead and coho salmon.

Regulations Summary

Restrictions

In order to set aside, preserve, and protect natural areas within the state, the department is authorized, in addition to any other powers, to establish the criteria for selection, acquisition, management, protection, and use of such natural areas, including limiting public access to natural area preserves.

Allowed

Recreational and commercial fishing is regulated under state regulations. All take of marine life must conform to regulations regarding species allowed, size limitations, catch limits, method of capture, and seasons.
