Purpose
Marine gardens are specially protected areas in which it is illegal to collect marine invertebrates or plants, with the seven gardens in Oregon established as educational and recreational areas for visitors to learn more about intertidal ecosystems. Cape Perpetua is an area abundant with intertidal life, with habitats for mussels, anemones, snails, and starfish.

Regulations Summary
Restrictions
1. It is unlawful to take shellfish and invertebrates, including sea urchins or California sea cucumbers, for commercial purposes.
2. A person may not pick, cut, mutilate, trim, uproot, remove or attempt to take or possess any living or non-living plants.
This area includes all rocky areas, tide pools, and sandy beaches between extreme high and low tides lying between the north side of Devil’s Churn and the north boundary of Neptune State Park.
Allowed
Sport fishing is allowed, subject to OR fishing regulations. Single mussels may be taken for bait. Take of razor clams is permitted in the sandy beach area that does not overlap with the marine reserve.
Permitted fishing is subject to license, minimum size and maximum catch limits, method of fishing, seasons and closures, as described in the Oregon Sport Fishing regulations.
