Purpose

This area was designated as an Essential Fish Habitat Conservation Area (EFHCA) because the waters and substrate are necessary to fish for spawning, breeding, feeding, or growth to maturity. NOAA Fisheries has identified this place as an EFHCA for one of the 1000 federally managed species.

Species of Concern: Groundfish

Regulations Summary

Restrictions

Fishing with bottom trawl gear is prohibited.

Allowed

1. Fishing methods other than bottom trawl and recreational fishing for groundfish using hook-and-line or spear is permitted, subject to license, minimum size and maximum catch limits, method of fishing, seasons, and closures. More information is available at NOAA's West Coast Fisheries Management and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
2. Vessels may transit through, with or without groundfish on board, with all prohibited gear stowed.
