Purpose

To preserve and protect the kelp forest/surfgrass, rocky reef habitat, and the area's associated species. It provides protection of intertidal invertebrate species such as Kellet's whelks, top shells, limpets and sea cucumbers, and abalone while allowing lobster, urchin, and finfish take.

Restrictions

It is unlawful to injure, damage, take, or possess any living, geological, or cultural marine resource for commercial or recreational purposes, or a combination of commercial and recreational purposes, with exceptions.

Allowed

1. Recreational hook-and-line fishing or spearfishing of finfish, and take of spiny lobster, and sea urchin.
2. Commercial take of sea urchin, spiny lobster by trap, and coastal pelagic species by round haul net, brail gear, and light boat.
