Purpose

To protect the biodiversity of the natural area and the habitats of the flora and fauna, particularly the nesting sites of the seabirds in the area such as the bulwer's petrel, the little shearwater, and the scopoli's shearwater.

Species of Concern: Bulwer's Petrel (Bulweria bulwerii), Little Shearwater (Puffinus assimilis), Scopoli's Shearwater (Calonectris diomedea)

Regulations Summary

Restrictions

The following activities are prohibited:
- Any type of action carried out within the scope of the Site of Scientific Interest that contradicts the provisions of these Conservation Rules or that is contrary to the purpose of protecting this space.
- Overflight of any point in the natural space at a height of less than 1,000 feet, except for emergency reasons.
- Any activity that, due to its location or intensity, could lead to the initiation or acceleration of erosive processes.
- The uses or activities carried out in the Site of Scientific Interest that affect species listed as threatened, or for which a need for protection is established based on criteria of uniqueness, rarity, scientific or socioeconomic value or others justified by the management and administration body of the Site of Scientific Interest.
- Extraction of aggregates, as well as quarries of any kind.
- The capture, collection, alteration or destruction of protected species of fauna and flora, as well as part thereof, or the collection of any biological or geological material, except:
- When it is done by the Managing Administration and for management reasons, in which case it will be permitted.
- When it is done as a result of duly authorized research projects.
- When it involves the harvesting of plants for agricultural cultivation, in which case it will be permitted.
- The introduction or release of non-native flora and fauna species in the area of the Site of Scientific Interest, except in cases where they are plants grown on farms that have already been cleared.
- Hunting activity.

Allowed

The following activities are allowed or may be authorized:
- The activities of protection, restoration and conservation of the natural values of the protected area.
- All those that are compatible with the purposes of protecting the natural space, that do not contravene any sectoral law and that are not included in the uses considered as prohibited or authorizable.
- Activities related to scientific and/or research purposes that involve intervention in the environment or entail the management of natural resources or the permanent or temporary installation of support infrastructure.
- Activities for educational purposes.
