Purpose
To protect, regenerate and develop resources of fishing interest to maintain sustainable fisheries, enabling artisanal fishermen in the area to preserve their traditional way of life.

Regulations Summary
Restrictions
1. Any use not mentioned in the Allowed section is prohibited, specifically the following activities:
- Of a general nature:
a) The practice of professional fishing in any form not expressly established in this order and, specifically, the forms of trawling, purse seine, bottom and surface longline, underwater fishing, jigging, spinning, recreational fishing competitions, and the extraction of fauna and flora, apart from authorized fishing activities.
b) The collection or extraction of organisms, or parts of organisms, animals or plants, alive or dead, except in the case of duly authorized fishing and scientific activities.
c) The extraction of minerals or any other type of remains.
d) Feeding animals.
e) The discharge of any kind and the placement of infrastructure in the sea.
f) The use of jet skis.
g) Restocking, understood as both the capture and release of individuals of any species.
- Specific:
a) For professional fishermen: the use of other gear or tackle other than those permitted in the Order.
b) For recreational fishermen: the use of equipment other than that permitted in this order, the use of live fish as bait, and the use of artificial lures, such as rapala or spoon.
c) For divers: night or shore dives, the use of mechanical elements of underwater propulsion (torpedoes), carrying out sea trials or diving school practices, and possession of any instrument that can be used for fishing or extracting marine species, except a knife, for safety reasons. (The first three prohibitions for divers do not apply to dives conducted within the areas called Cala Lliteras and Cala Gat.)
d) For vessels: for those engaged in recreational diving activities, the possession on board of any instrument, gear or tackle that may be used for fishing or the extraction of marine species.
2. Anchoring is prohibited, except in these four areas:

The use of mooring buoys at diving sites are reserved for diving vessels.
3. The following limitations are established to free navigation, except in the case of an emergency:
a) Vessels in transit (those not authorized to carry out any activity in the marine reserve) will sail at a speed greater than 6 knots and less than 10 knots.
b) Vessels in transit shall endeavour to sail as far from the coast as possible.
4. It is prohibited to deliberately capture, retain on board, transship, or land these species of fish and marine invertebrates: Nursehound (Scyliorhinus stellaris); Common stingray (Dasyatis pastinaca); Roughtail stingray (Dasyatis centroura); Blue shark (Prionace glauca); Common eagle ray (Myliobatis aquila); Bull ray (Aetomylaeus bovinus); Common torpedo (Torpedo torpedo); Smoothhound (Mustelus spp.); Fine-dotted moray (Apterichtus anguiformis); Brander's worm eel (Caecilia branderiana); Pipefish (Nerophis spp.); Pipefish (various) (Syngnathus spp.); Meagre (Argyrosomus regius); European spider crab (Maja squinado); Rugose top shell (Bolma rugosa); Red octopus (Octopus macropus)
Allowed
Vessels entering the marine reserve to practice permitted activities must notify the marine reserve service by calling the surveillance service telephone numbers indicated in the corresponding authorization or by contacting the service via VHF, channel 16.
1. Only the following activities may be carried out, subject to prior authorization from the General Directorate of Sustainable Fisheries of the General Secretariat of Fisheries:
a) Professional sea fishing as follows:
a. All catches within the marine reserve are subject to the size limits established by the regulations governing them in the Mediterranean National Fishing Ground.
b. Authorized boats may only use one type of gear per fishing day; simultaneous use of different methods or having additional gear on board is not allowed.
c. Only one gear, not exceeding the maximum length indicated in the table contained within the Order, may be used and carried on board throughout the marine reserve (internal and external waters).
d. Professional fishing activity within the marine reserve is not permitted on Saturdays, Sundays, or public holidays. Gear must be removed by midday on Friday or the day before a public holiday and can be reset starting from 16:00 hours on Sunday or the afternoon of the public holiday.
b) Recreational underwater activities in the modality of autonomous diving under the following conditions:
- Maximum Diving Quota: 200 per day for dive centers and 40 for individuals.
- Diving Zones: Farallón, Farallón 1, Farallón 2, Farallón 3, Faro 1, Faro 2, Es Cagarro, S’Olla, Alegre, Queso 2, Bajo de La Mula, Na Foguera, Punta Na Foguera, Catedral, Cova, Freu 1, Freu 2, Freu 3, Cala Gat
c) Recreational maritime fishing from boats in the modalities and conditions set out in Annex 3 of this order.
- Permitted Methods from boats:
a. Fluixa or surface trolling for large pelagic and migratory species, with traditional technical characteristics in the Balearic Islands. Maximum two lines in action per boat.
b. Chambel or Volantín for serranos and for galán or raor, with traditional characteristics in the Balearic Islands and targeting species traditionally fished with it. To be used from a drifting boat. Volantín fishing for serranos will be conducted at a minimum depth of 35 meters on gravel or detrital bottoms, outside the limit of Posidonia oceanica meadows. The hook bend must be greater than 7 mm. One line per person and license, up to a maximum of four lines per boat and four hooks per line in action per boat. For volantín fishing for galán or raor, the minimum hook bend will be 5.7 mm, with one line per person and license, up to a maximum of four lines per boat with four hooks maximum per line in action.
c. Potera:
Gear: One line with two squid jigs per licensed fisherman, up to a maximum of four lines per boat in action.
Permitted days: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday, and holidays.
Activity hours: From sunrise to sunset. For potera, from one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset.
Closed Season for Raor Fishing: The capture of this species is prohibited from April 1 to August 31, inclusive.
- Permitted Methods from shore:
a. Gear:
One rod with or without a reel per person, hand line fishing, and corcheo with a maximum of four hooks per gear. The hook bend must be greater than 7 mm.
Traditional utensils for puu collection. One per person and license.
b. Modalities: Hand line fishing and puu collection.
c. The activity can be conducted from traditional fishing spots in the area.
Permitted days: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday, and holidays. Activity hours: From sunrise to sunset.
d) Scientific activities expressly authorized by the General Directorate of Fisheries Resources of the General Secretariat of Fisheries based on their interest in monitoring the status and evolution of species, waters, and seabeds of the marine reserve.
e) Educational and experimental activities authorized by the General Directorate of Fisheries Resources of the General Secretariat of Fisheries based on their interest in promoting and disseminating marine reserves and marine protection actions.
2. Throughout the marine reserve, the following activities are permitted without the need for authorization, without prejudice to compliance with the regulations governing them, with the obligation to observe good seamanship practices, and under the responsibility of their practitioners:
a) Free navigation.
b) Free diving and snorkeling, up to 20 meters from the coast and between sunrise and sunset.
c) Recreational maritime fishing from shore in the modalities of hand line fishing and collection of puu with gear permitted by the Autonomous Community.
