Purpose
To conserve the ecosystem and marine biodiversity of the Diego Ramírez Islands Archipelago; the continental slope; seamounts; forests of brown macroalgae, made up of Giant kelp and New Zealand bull kelp; the feeding and nesting areas of the Black-browed Albatross and the Grey-headed albatross; Southern rockhopper and macaroni penguin feeding and breeding areas; and the feeding areas of marine mammals present in the area, such as whales, dolphins and sea lions.

The management plan is not yet implemented.
In accordance with Decree 238, in marine parks, no activity may be carried out, except those that are authorized for observation, research or study purposes in the sectors previously determined. All activities carried out within the parks must avoid the removal of biota, destruction or alteration of the habitat, minimize the deterioration or death of specimens for the purposes of the studies and minimize any source of contamination derived from the associated actions to these studies.
The main recommendations and good practices for visitors to Marine Parks and Reserves are listed below:
1. Do not spill, throw or bury any type of element, waste or contaminant.
2. Do not extract hydrobiological resources, living or dead, whole or derived.
3. Do not remove or withdraw archaeological pieces or pieces from the seabed.
4. Do not feed, disturb, touch, lift, chase or harass the marine fauna in the area.
5. In the event of detecting breaches of the regulations or finding injured or stranded marine fauna, inform Sernapesca at line 800 320 032 or the Navy by dialing 137.
6. Carry out tourist activities only with agents authorized by Sernapesca, the Maritime Authority and with all the corresponding permits.
7. When diving, avoid hitting and/or rubbing against formations and the seabed, and do not detach or take living organisms.
8. During navigation and/or for photographs and filming of marine fauna, the boat must be kept parallel to the specimens of marine fauna, and the speed of the ships must be kept moderate, avoiding sudden changes in speed, direction or course at a moderate speed, and minimum distances from the boats must also be respected as established in the General Observation Regulations (D.S. N° 38-2011).
a) 50 m from small cetaceans (Dolphins, Toninas, Porpoises), other marine mammals (Sea Lions, Chungungos, southern river otters), hydrobiological birds (Penguins) and marine reptiles (Sea Turtles).
b) 100 m from larger cetaceans (Humpback Whales, Sperm Whales).
c) 300 m from Blue Whales.
d) In the case of the Southern right whale, the sighting should only be from platforms located on land.
9. The presence of pets is not allowed on boats that carry out activities within Reserves and Marine Parks, in order to avoid the production of troublesome noises that could disturb the protected fauna, or put the safety of the people who are inside the boats at risk.
