Purpose
Kitsussunnguit – Green Ejland is designated both as a protected area and as a Ramsar site to protect and enhance the ecosystem and the rich biodiversity, with particular focus on the area’s breeding Arctic terns, as well as the islands’ importance to outdoor recreation.

Regulations Summary
Restrictions
1. Within the protected area, it is not permitted to pollute land and wetlands or to leave any kind of waste, including all kinds of fishing gear, markings or scientific equipment.
2. It is not permitted to damage the vegetation or make changes to the terrain. Furthermore, all collection of plants, plant parts, animals, eggs and feathers and down is not permitted.
3. Within the protected area, it is not permitted to construct buildings or other permanent structures, to make additions or alterations to existing buildings, and to construct roads and paths, with exceptions.
4. In sub-areas 1 and 2, all sailing, disembarkation and traffic are prohibited in the period 1 May to 31 October.
5. In the airspace above the protected area, flying lower than 500 meters is not permitted for the sake of the area's wildlife.
6. In sub-areas 1, 2 and 3, all trapping, hunting, egg collection and fishing are prohibited in the period 1 May to 31 October. Fishing gear, including nets, must be removed and brought back before 1 May.
7. Within the protected area, the dumping of fishing waste is not permitted.
Allowed
1. Is it permitted to collect plant growth for fuel for cooking in connection with fishing, hunting and trapping.
2. It is permitted to seek an emergency port in sub-areas 1 and 2, if the weather conditions make this necessary. The stay must be reported to the Department for Infrastructure and the Environment no later than 1 month after the end of the stay.
3. It is permitted to seek port and travel in sub-area 2A, if the disembarkation takes place from the south.
4. Fishing for rockfish in sub-areas 2 and 3 is permitted in the period 1 May to 10 June. Fishing gear, including nets, must be removed and brought back by 10 June at the latest.
