Purpose

Rationale for the creation of protected areas and its significance:
1. implementation of the protection of natural areas in order to preserve biological diversity and maintain protected natural complexes and objects in their natural state;
2. organization and conduct of scientific research, including the maintenance of the Chronicle of Nature;
3. implementation of environmental monitoring;
4. environmental education;
5. participation in the state environmental review of projects and schemes for the placement of economic and other facilities;
6. assistance in the training of scientific personnel and specialists in the field of environmental protection;
7. approbation and implementation on the territory of the biospheric polygon of the reserve of methods of rational nature management that do not destroy the environment and do not deplete biological resources.

Species of Concern: white-billed loon, black goose, white-fronted goose, walrus

Regulations Summary

Restrictions

Any activity that is contrary to the objectives of the reserve and the regime of special protection of its territory, including:
1. exploration and development of minerals;
2. commercial, sports and amateur hunting and fishing, other types of use of the animal world, except for the cases provided for by the Regulations;
3. passage of unauthorized persons and vehicles outside the roads and waterways of public use;
4. collection of zoological, botanical, mineralogical and other collections, except for those provided for by the subject and plans of scientific research in the reserve;
5. overflight of helicopters and planes below 2000 meters over the reserve without the consent of its administration or the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, as well as overcoming the sound barrier by planes over the territory of the reserve;
6. other activities that violate the natural development of natural processes, threatening the state of natural complexes and objects, and also not related to the fulfillment of the tasks assigned to the reserve.

Allowed

It is allowed to carry out measures and activities aimed at:
1. preservation of natural complexes in their natural state, restoration, as well as prevention of changes in natural complexes and their components as a result of anthropogenic impact;
2. maintaining conditions that ensure sanitary and fire safety of people, animals, natural complexes and objects;
3. prevention of dangerous natural phenomena (avalanches, rockfalls, mudflows and others) that threaten the lives of people and settlements;
4. scientific research and environmental monitoring;
5. conducting environmental education work;
6. implementation of control functions.
