Purpose
The management orientations of the Mayotte Marine Natural Park are: To make Mayotte a center of excellence in terms of knowledge and monitoring of tropical marine ecosystems and mangroves; to obtain good quality of water in the lagoon, in particular through appropriate management of mangroves and by participating in the mobilization of stakeholders to achieve the master plan objectives for water development and management of the Mayotte basin; to develop a professional fishing activity outside the lagoon that is ecologically exemplary and providing jobs and seafood products for Mayotte to develop environmentally friendly aquaculture activities, in particular those that directly benefit local populations; to promote the discovery of the marine environment and its biodiversity through the organization of leisure activities and the professionalization of tourism actors; to perpetuate and develop food-producing practices and traditional knowledge within the framework of a precautionary management of the lagoon; to protect and develop the natural heritage, from the mangrove to the oceanic spaces, in particular through training and awareness-raising.

Where an activity is likely to significantly alter the marine environment of a marine nature park, the authorization to which it is subject can only be issued with the assent of the Marine Protected Areas Agency or, by delegation of the management council. This procedure does not apply to activities that meet the needs of national defense, public order, maritime safety. This procedure is not applicable to activities that meet the needs of national defense, public order, maritime security and pollution control.In the maritime areas included in the heart of a national park, works and installations are prohibited, except with special authorization from the public establishment of the park, with the exception of the laying of submarine cables and works necessitated by the imperatives of national defence.
