Restrictions

The reserve is part of the Dar es Salaam Marine Reserve System, which has the following prohibited activities:
1. Any extractive resource use of any kind including: fishing activities, collection of fishing bites in the reserve areas on inter-tidal zone, cutting of trees, collection of inter-tidal and sub tidal organisms, coral mining, killing and collecting of terrestrial animals and birds, sand nursing, littering.
2. Jet skiing.
3. Seaplanes.
4. Sport fishing.
5. Sale and buying of marine curios in the reserves.
6. Entering the Reserve areas with Pets.
7. Introduction of alien species of plants and animals.
8. Shipping activities.
9. Speeding of commercial marine vessels.

Allowed

The following activities are allowed:

North and southwest zone: research/ educational activities, sunbathing, bandas for meals and refreshments and guided recreational activities.

East and Southeast zone: guided recreational activities, camping sites, sunbathing, bandas for meals and refreshments research/ educational activities and information centre.

Western zone: Mooring facilities. West to East nature trail and a nature trail to the tombs will be developed. Zone for guided tourism as well as research/ educational activities.

South Zone: Research, educational tours, and guided inter-tidal walk.
