Purpose
The preservation and protection of wild life, plant life and objects of geological, archaeological, historical and ethnological and other scientific and scenic interest and through their conservation and utilization to promote the education, health, aesthetic values and recreation of the people.

Regulations Summary
Restrictions
1. No mining or prospecting operations shall be carried on within a National Park, except as licensed by the State Authority.
2. No person, other than a person acting under and in accordance with the permission of the Controller, shall:
(a) enter, reside or remain in a national park or a nature reserve;
(b) convey into a national park or a nature reserve or, within the confines thereof, be in possession of any weapon, explosive, poison or any contrivance of any kind used for the taking, capturing, shooting, killing or destroying of any animals;
(c) within a national park or a nature reserve, kill, injure, capture or disturb any animal or take or destroy any plant, egg or nest;
(d) cut or set fire to any plant or damage any object of geological, prehistoric, archaeological, historical or other scientific interest;
(e) introduce any animal, or permit any domestic animal to stray, into a national park or a nature reserve, or introduce any plant into a national park or a nature reserve;
(f) remove from a national park or a nature reserve any animal or plant, whether alive or dead, other than any animal or plant lawfully introduced into a national park or a nature reserve by the person removing it;
(g) remove from a national park or a nature reserve any object of geological, prehistoric, archaeological, historical or other scientific interest;
(h) destroy or deface any object whether animate or inanimate;
(i) erect any building in a national park or a nature reserve;
(j) clear or break up any land in a national Park reserve;
(k) without prejudice to any rights lawfully acquired before 16th day of February, 1956, and to the provisions of any law for the time being in force in Sarawak relating to mining, prospect for minerals in any national park or any nature reserve; or
(l) place, dump, deposit, ease or throw any carcass, paper, boxes, bottles, tins, refuse of any kind, noxious liquid or other offensive or filthy matter of any kind in a national park or a nature reserve.
3. No diving without the permission of the Park Warden or without a park guide. Divers must possess a current diver certification, lodge a FLOAT plan with the Park Warden, dive only within designated areas, abide by NAUI Safe Diving Practices Code or equivalent standards, not touch or disturb any marine creature or underwater formation or intentionally move within 5 meters of a turtle, or stand on coral.
4. No vessel shall anchor in aquatic areas within a national park or nature reserve except at such places as may be designated by the Controller for anchorage or berthing of vessels.
5. No person shall between the hours of 6.00 p.m. and 8.00 a.m. on the following day enter a turtle beach zone without the permission of the Park Warden. No vessel, shall enter, ply along or leave the areas within the boundaries of a turtle beach zone between the hours of 6.00 p.m. and 8.00 a.m. on the following day, except in the case of emergency; or where prior permission is granted by the Park Warden.
6. No person shall, in a turtle beach zone:
(a) touch, disturb or injure any turtle;
(b) disturb any turtle nests;
(c) sit or ride on a turtle; or
(d) create or cause any nuisance which would drive turtles away from the turtle beach.
7. No person shall shine or focus any lights, whether from land or any vessel, on a turtle beach zone.
8. No alteration, excavation, removal or demolition of any historical monument or site within a national park or nature reserve shall be carried out without the prior written approval of the Director of Sarawak Museum and except in accordance with the Sarawak Cultural Heritage Ordinance, 1993.
9. All persons, whilst within a national park or nature reserve, shall observe and maintain a decent code of ethics and shall not:
(a) gamble; or
(b) become intoxicated by alcohol or any form of drug; or
(c) litter or deposit any rubbish, refuse or waste, except in such bins or receptacles provided by the Park Warden for such purpose; or
(d) create any nuisance; or
(e) conduct themselves indecently, or behave in a rude or unruly or aggressive manner; or
(f) without approval of the Park Warden, sell or offer for sale any food, goods or articles, or exhibit or conduct any exhibition; or
(g) beg or solicit for alms.
