Restrictions

Japan has has sovereign rights for the purpose of exploring and exploiting, conserving and managing the natural resources, whether living or non-living, of these waters. Fishing restrictions, such as bag limits, seasons, and size restrictions apply. Please consult the local fishing laws, some of which are referenced on this page, for more information.
The following restrictions apply:
1. Build, remodel, or expand a structure; create residential land, clear land, or change land characteristics;
2. mine minerals, or take stone or soil;
3. landfilling or reclaim the water surface;
4. capture or kill an animal, or collect or damage an animal's egg; release animals;
5. discard or leave waste;
6. use of horses, vehicles, carriages, power boats, or landing of aircraft;
7. an act that may affect the conservation of the natural environment in the wilderness conservation area.

Allowed

Acts the Minister of the Environment deems it particularly necessary for academic research or other public interest reasons and permits it, or if it is taken as an emergency measure necessary for an emergency disaster; create conditions necessary to conserve the natural environment; acts performed as execution of conservation projects; regular management or simple acts specified by the ordinance of the Ministry of the Environment that do not risk interfering with the conservation of the natural environment.
