Regulations Summary

Restrictions

Ghana has sovereign rights for the purpose of exploring and exploiting, conserving and managing the natural resources, whether living or non-living, of these waters. Fishing restrictions, such as bag limits, seasons, and size restrictions apply. The following restrictions apply in these waters:
- No person shall knowingly take gravid lobster, crustacea, or juvenile fish during fishing. Any young lobsters or crustacea must immediately be returned to the water.
- No fishing vessel shall be used for or assist in any driftnet fishing activities.
- No person shall use or attempt to use any explosive, poison or other noxious substance for the purpose of killing, stunning, disabling or catching fish. or in any way rendering fish more easily caught.
- No person shall fish for marine mammals.
- It is prohibited to directly or indirectly introduces any deleterious substance into the fishery waters which adversely affects the habitat or health of the fish or other living aquatic resources.
