Purpose
To protect the site by maintaining or restoring the extent, distribution, structure, and function of its natural habitats, as well as the supporting processes on which those habitats rely. The sublittoral and littoral reef habitats at Flamborough are considered to be the most diverse in the United Kingdom, supporting an unusual range of marine species including rich animal communities.

Regulations Summary
Restrictions
The following is prohibited:
1. Using any seine net or any draw net of the kind known as the Danish seine or ‘snurrevaad’ in fishing for sea fish.
2. Removing from a fishery any mussel of less than two inches in length.
3. Taking or disturbing any shellfish in violation of a closure of shellfish beds issued by the North Eastern IFCA.
4. The placing and use of fixed engines for taking sea fish, except in the areas and in the periods and using the instruments and according with the conditions set out in the byelaws.
5. Using a scallop dredge outside the specified scallop dredging area without a valid scallop dredging permit.
6. Carrying or using a scallop dredge on or from a vessel unless the vessel is operating a fully functioning Automatic Identification System.
7. Engaging in any trawling activities without a valid special permit, including beam and multi-rig vessel trawling.
Note that a subzone within this SAC, entitled the Flamborough Head No Take Zone, also prohibits the removal of any sea fish.
Allowed
Other types of fishing or activities may be permitted in accordance with applicable regulations.
