Purpose

To restore and increase fish stocks found in the area and consequently increase fish production in the adjacent area, as well as to conduct scientific research on Artificial Reef behavior in relation to increasing biodiversity, attracting diving tourism and raising public awareness of marine life and the marine environment in general.

Species of Concern: long-snouted seahorse, fan mussel

Regulations Summary

Restrictions

1. All fishing activities, including recreational and commercial fishing, are prohibited.
2. Mooring or anchoring of vessels in the area is prohibited.
3. Navigation with boat, jet-ski, or similar water craft is prohibited.

Allowed

1. Mooring of vessels is only permitted in two designated mooring areas.
2. Scientific monitoring and educational activities.
3. Scuba diving, snorkeling, and swimming.
4. Transit is permitted for boats of the Republic, and diving vessels flying the flag in accordance with international diving regulations.
5. Fishing is permitted for Class A and B coastal vessels in the area defined by points 3, 4, 5 and 6 shown on this table.
