Regulations Summary
Restrictions
1. Feeding or disturbing wildlife is prohibited.
2. Unauthorized collecting of specimens such as biological debris, fossils, shell sand, coral rocks, and other rocks is prohibited.
3. Any introduction or release of external organisms or artificial breeding is prohibited.
4. Unauthorized establishment of stalls, scaffolding, or other similar structures is prohibited.
5. Any unauthorized swimming, diving, snorkeling, or participation in other water activities is prohibited.
6. Making a campfire or any action which creates a loud disturbance is prohibited.
7. Non-official ships or other vehicles are prohibited from stopping or loitering in the marine ecological protection area.
8. Political activities and actions with the potential to cause social disputes or conflict are prohibited.
8. Regulations regarding angling activities, which are prohibited everywhere but the Activity Zone, are as follows:
a) Activity time: Every day from 06:00 to 18:00.
b) Prohibited catch species:
i.Protected species as under the Wildlife Conservation Act.
ii.Shark, stingray, sharp-nose garden eel, humphead parrotfish, humphead wrasse (Napoleon fish), Dongsha humphead wrasse, and other rare fishes.
c) Size limit: Catch with full body length under 15cm must be released alive into the water, and must not be taken away.
d) Number limit: Each person is allowed 3 catches per day. It is prohibited to leave Dongsha Island with a catch.
e) Angling methods:
i.Angling on a tetrapod is not allowed.
ii.Each person is limited to one fishing rod and two hooks.
iii.Scattering bait and thereby polluting the water is prohibited.
iv.Using live bait or organisms from Dongsha Island as bait is prohibited.
f) Miscellaneous: Please cooperate with resource investigation and monitoring processes when participating in angling activities.
In the event of a typhoon warning or other emergency incident, the MNPH shall issue emergency measures prohibiting angling act ivities; all angling authorizations shall automatically be invalid during such incidents.
The following activities shall be prohibited within the national parks:
1.Burning of vegetation or setting fires to clear land;
2.Hunting animals or catching fish;
3.Polluting water or air;
4.Picking or removing flowers or other vegetation;
5.Carving into or writing on trees, bark, stones or signs;
6.Discarding fruit skins, paper or any other materials;
7.Driving outside of designated areas;
8.Any other conduct prohibited by the national park competent authority.
Allowed
In a general area or a recreation area, the following activities are permissible after obtaining permission from the National Park Headquarters:
1.Building or demolishing public or private structures, roads, or bridges;
2.Filling in, diverting or expanding water areas or waterways;
3.Prospecting or exploring for minerals, earth or gravel;
4.Land reclamation or change of use;
5.Fishing or livestock grazing;
6.Constructing cable car systems or other mechanized transport systems;
7.Utilization of waters from hot springs;
8.Posting advertisements, or erecting signboards or similar items;
9.Adding or altering equipment or its uses in existing factories;
10.Any other matters require the permission of the competent authority.
Angling is allowed in this area: The general waters between the tetrapod west of the sixth strongpoint to the tetrapod east of the seventh strongpoint on the Dongsha Island shall be the angling zone.
