There is a one-mile no-take zone established around each island in the Park.

General prohibitions:
1. human occupancy, unless for scientific purposes include:
2. high-impact development and construction of infrastructure contrary to the Management plan;
3. hunting native species in the Park;
4. collection and exploitation of natural, cultural, archaeological and ecotourism resources, unless for scientific and educational purposes;
5. oil and mining exploration and exploitation;
6. deposition of solid, organic, and inorganic waste and residual water, unless properly treated; and
7. introduction of foregin or exotic species

The resources within the Park will be managed in such a way that environmental impacts are minimized, so that natural processes are not affected, and in accordance with the Park's regulations and other current legislation.

All fishing with explosives, diving with an aqualung or air tank, fishing with chemicals, ocean or drift nets, gillnets, gillnet sharks, underwater pistols, dredges, arrest nets, longlines, Hawaiian rod, and any kingpin that connects to the hooks are prohibited. with the metal mother line, chuzos and any other modality that is not specified in this Resolution.

These activities are specifically prohibited:
1. fishing activities without a valid permit or license.
2. extracting protected species within closures, except for authorized scientific fishing.
3. possessing and fishing with illegal methods, such as the use of nets, toxic materials, explosives, and others whose nature causes danger to marine resources
4. bringing on board or using unauthorized gear or fishing systems
5. using fishing boats for unauthorized purposes.
6. transfering part or all of the fish harvest in between vessels.
7. capturing or fishing marine mammals, sea turtles and other threatened or endangered species.
8. throwing fish waste (internal organs) into the sea in the area between Islote Frijoles, Gambute Station, Isla Ranchería and Isla Granito de Oro.
9. dumping, on beaches and banks or into the water: waste, polluting substances and other objects that constitute a danger to navigation, circulation, or that pose a threat to hydrobiological resources.
10. using fishing gear without the necessary signs, making it difficult or impossible to navigate.
11. transfering, under any circumstance, the rights derived from the fishing license.
12. providing the competent authority with false, incorrect, or incomplete information and/or denying access to vessels and documents whose presentation is required by the authorities.
13. fishing and possessing of the following organisms, parts, derivatives, products, and by-products of: lobster, cambute, shrimp, sharks or their fins, sea turtles, octopus, cucumbers, and any other organism not authorized in this Plan.
14. using bait (“chumming”) to attract prey and the capture of live bait in the Park.
15. dumping fishing waste in the docks, bays, recreational and marine visiting sites.
16. fishing in the Marine Reserve Zone.
17. fishing and possessing the grouper guasa or Goliath (Epinephelus quinquefasciatus).
18. holding fishing tournaments.
19. underwater fishing within the Park.
20. industrial fishing vessels in the waters of the Park.

It is prohibited to carry out any activity that contravenes said Plan for the Sustainable Fishing Use of the Coiba National Park, Law 44 of 2004, Law 41 of July 1, 1998 and Resolution AG-0449-2009 of June 22, 2009, in accordance with any other norm of the present environmental legislation and that in the future is dictated around this matter.
