Objetivo
To conserve and protect the potentially sensitive (largely unknown) benthic fauna of this seamount and caldera. Protects different chemosynthetic habitats, including white smoker vent fields.
Resumo dos regulamentos
Restrições
The following activities are prohibited:
(a) fishing;
(b) fishing vessels entering the no-take zones, except in exercise of the right of innocent passage or under force majeure.
Autorizada
The restrictions do not apply to:
(a) anything carried out in accordance with a permit granted by the Commissioner; or
(b) anything done
- in the interests of the prevention or detection of crime;
- for securing public health; or
- for the purpose of saving human life, securing the safety of any vessel of significant value or of preventing damage to any vessel or cargo (in either case of significant value) from any danger which could not have been foreseen or avoided.
