The purpose of the nature conservation area is to protect the grey seal primarily during the breeding and rearing period, but also during periods when juveniles can occur in the area and other times of the year when the seals gather in the area. The conservation area also leads to greater protection for resting and moulting seabirds.

In addition to regulations and prohibitions in laws and regulations, it is prohibited to:
1. Conduct extraction or other activity that changes the topography of the area on land and in water,
2. Fish or hunt,
3. Enter or drive on the land or water areas from 1 February -15 August,
4. Destroy or damage solid natural objects or surface formation by drilling, chopping, blowing, carving, painting, burning or the like,
5. Disrupt wildlife.
